Remember Smokey the Bear?

Today I was thinking about the song: Smokey the Bear. We learned it sometime in grade school. I asked my husband if he had ever learned it. (I sang it for him to see if it brought back any memories).

Smokey the Bear, Smokey the Bear.
Prowlin' and a growlin' and a sniffin' the air.
He can find a fire before it starts to flame.
That's why they call him Smokey,
That was how he got his name.

He didn't know the song! (Of course, he went to St. Rita's Catholic School until he entered Jr. High, and I suppose since they were not a "state supported" entity, he wouldn't have to learn songs about Idaho History). Hum. . . wonder if he learned, "And Here We Have Idaho"?

I didn't learn the Smokey Song [at St. Anthony School in Pocatello] but now I have Here We Have Idaho running through my brain all day. Thanks for the memories! Enjoy your blog too.

I'm surprised you didn't learn it, but maybe they only taught it to those of us who lived among the pines! Sorry about getting the state song stuck in your mind!

Thanks for leaving a message! Think I'll check out your site now!
