Longing for the day when I can move back into the mountains among the Ponderosa Pines!
Since I'm on an old picture kick. . .I thought I'd show this pic of my Second Grade class at Silver King Grade School. See how many kids you remember. . .

I could name 18! I think this is a photo that was missing from Mom's collection. She will be glad to see this. She will know every one of them I am sure!
I'm stuck on two: the tall red haired girl in the back row and the kid between Kerry Shock and Vesta Targett.
I think the red haired girl's name is Barbara, but I'm not sure. I might think of the other kid after a while.
Who do you need help with?
rp
IEG: I used to have one from every class, but I am not sure where they are now.
RP: Those were two of the four. Was Barbara's last name White?? Just a guess.
Was the kid next to Mrs. Hokanson named Howard? (Howard Mapes?) I can't remember the girl between Debbie and Denise (L____?) nor the kid holding the sign. (But he really looks familiar.)
Of course you probably went to school with these kids for many more years than I did. I was only at Silver King for grades 1 - 3.
Raymond Pert was only there through second grade and I only attended there in 1st grade, but we had the Mom connection. I am stumped on the two he mentioned. I do know more now thanks to an email to RP.
So RP, why didn't you send me an email???
Hey-Where are you! This thing about being a writer is true (writers write). You have the gift--share it!
Too bad you didn't leave your name or any indication of who you are. . .How can I respond to someone who could be anyone?
I can't believe that someone there remembers me. My name is Howard Mapes. I only went there for 1st and 2nd grades and some of the first was in New Mexico when the mines went on strike (my father worked in the maint. dept. in the mines). I must admit I don't remember anyone. My mother tells me I don't remember anything about Kellogg. Got back to Kellogg about 18 years ago and saw my aunt and uncle. The place look great! Didn't wake up with acid mouth. All you people still living there, I envy.
I have a tendency to remember names of schoolmates - particularly in the lower grades. Too bad I can't put names and faces together very well now!
So glad you responded. It's probably just as well you don't remember going to Silver King Grade School. We spent our recesses in the yellow-brown smog that hung in the gulch.
